My last commission of the 4Q20 round was Kyle from Animal Crossing! When I got the request I was more than happy to take him on as I wanted to use my wolf pattern again. Kyle is also just one cool dude! I don't have Kyle on my island, but my friend does! I asked her to take some pictures of him in something "skimpy" so I could see all his spots. Kyle didn't require any special patterning, but every pattern piece had to be run through my embroidery machine! I decided to do applique for his spots instead of embroidery since they were large enough and he had so many to keep him nice and soft. Beans! All my Animal Crossing plush have jointed arms. I prefer jointing the arms since it no longer gives them a lot of character but it's also a great secure way to attach smaller arms without hand sewing. When I made Marshal I ordered some joints since he used up my last ones. Since the normal ones I used were out of stock I bought these new plastic joints. I went through the whole process of making Kyle, including recording a tutorial on jointing arms. When I went to snap them together, it was literally impossible. Apparently you have to heat activate the lock washer with very hot water, but it's not always successful. I also don't have any proper heat-safe gloves to handle them after heat activating. So I decided to order my normal ones from a different source, which delayed his progress about a week and a half. Once I got them he was good to go! His clothes were very straightforward to make, which I was happy about. I searched Joanns several times for a similar necklace charm, but was unsuccessful. I decided to make it out of leather in the end. I etched the design into the leather and painted it with silver acrylics. And with that, he was done! You can watch a timelapse of making him here! And a full gallery below!
